Magdalah Racine-Silva Appointed to National Women’s Business Council


WASHINGTON – The National Women’s Business Council (NWBC) has appointed Magdalah Racine-Silva as the newest member of its nonpartisan federal advisory council. Racine-Silva is the president, chief executive and co-founder of the DMS International, a management, training and information technology services company based in Silver Spring, Md.
 

More Women Obtaining Patents, Trademarks in Recent Years


WASHINGTON –The number of women awarded patents has soared over the last several decades far beyond previously reported figures, and the percentage of trademarks granted to women has more than doubled, a new study commissioned by the National Women’s Business Council found.
 
The study found that women had a higher representation among trademark holders than patent owners; in 2010, 18 percent of all patents granted went to women while 33 percent of all trademarks granted to individuals and sole proprietorships went to women.

Sarah Fisher Appointed to National Women’s Business Council


Sarah Fisher, Founder and Team Owner of Indianapolis-based Sarah Fisher Racing, was appointed today to serve a three-year term on the National Women’s Business Council (NWBC), a nonpartisan federal advisory council created to serve as an independent source of advice and policy recommendations to the President, Congress, and the U.S. Small Business Administration on economic issues of importance to women business owners.
