Crowdfunding: A Key Resource in Advancing Women’s Access to Capital
 
Today, the National Women’s Business Council Chair Carla Harris will keynote a crowdfunding webinar hosted by Business Forward— an organization well known for bringing more than 3,000 business leaders to the White House to brief the President's economic advisors. On May 27th at 3:30pm Business Forward will host a Crowdfunding webinar targeting start-ups and women-led businesses. 
 

National Small Business Week: NWBC Recognizes Women’s Economic Impact


Every year since 1963, the U.S. Small Business Administration honors our nation’s entrepreneurs and small business owners through its annual National Small Business Week. This year’s National Small Business Week will be held May 12th-May 16th. Throughout the week SBA and partners will highlight America’s outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners through a multi-city tour.

NWBC Welcomes New Executive Director


(Washington, DC) — Today, the National Women’s Business Council (NWBC) announced its new Executive Director: Amanda Brown. Amanda was most recently the National Political Director for Rock the Vote. She is a Forbes 2014 30-under-30 recipient and has previously served as an Advisor for Strategic Planning to the U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

More Women Obtaining Patents, Trademarks in Recent Years


WASHINGTON –The number of women awarded patents has soared over the last several decades far beyond previously reported figures, and the percentage of trademarks granted to women has more than doubled, a new study commissioned by the National Women’s Business Council found.
 
The study found that women had a higher representation among trademark holders than patent owners; in 2010, 18 percent of all patents granted went to women while 33 percent of all trademarks granted to individuals and sole proprietorships went to women.
